Alchemist, Beware of Declarations vs. Resolutions
I never really liked resolutions. It's a "firm decision" not to do something while a declaration is an "explicit statement or announcement". I think it's important that as you move into the year, you prepare to succeed with methods that can easily integrate into whatever aspect you are elevating.
I took this picture initially for myself. I jabbed myself in the eye after I did my nails and abraded my cornea. After a few F bombs and quadruple checking that it wasn't just a lash,I went and got some guaze pads, lit a joint and went about my day of traveling, meetings and programming as usual.
It was a full circle moment for me because when I was little, I had done this exact same thing except , let my mama tell it, I was acting like my eye was falling out and was completely flustered by the whole situation. Instead of getting all down in the dumps and completely sidetracked by this, I embraced it. I wore black and grey, my biker jacket, silver jewelry with some locs on. I became the badass of my day, pulled my Goat Moves anyways and declared internally that I was tough and nothing was going to halt my progress today.
It made me stop and wonder just how much mental, spiritual and emotional stamina I have gained over the years. Although we despise trial and tribulation in real time, in hindsight we see just how much it prepared us for the journey ahead. Embrace struggle, discomfort and know that the weapons in your arsenal are being sharpened for the battle ahead. Declare your desires in this new year and do what you must to attain them. Declare that you are ready for the things you want most. Declare that you will love on yourself and take care of yourself. Declare that you will protect yourself and your dreams . Declare your greatness and methodize your way there. I believe in you.
Happy New Year!
